Having a love of vintage knitting patterns means accepting the fact that a lot of them (particularly during WWII) only state one size. The average bust size then seems to have been about 34-36″. The result of this is that many are put off trying to knit the garments as today people tend to be larger and more modern knitting patterns allow for extra sizes. It seems that even then larger ladies had the same problem. There is an answer to this dilemma as found in a 1940 ladies magazine. I’ve added the pages below for you to read.
